Monopod : Manfrotto 680B

Being Used on : Canon 550D DSLR & Sony EX3

Review:

This is a short review for the Manfrotto Black 4-Section 680B Monopod, which I brought in November for under £50 and I must say it was a fantastic investment.

After testing it on a couple of video projects and using the Monopod in a variety of situations and supporting cameras such as Canon DSLR’s to the heavier Sony EX3’s, I was very impressed with the build quality. The monopod held the weight of both cameras superbly and provided support and less shake when moving / recording with the cameras.

The size of the Monopod can extend or decrease, which was very useful, as without using any of the clips, the normal structure provides good weight and hand grip to keep the camera still. Even extended the highest it can be the Monopod structure was light but very sturdy and held the camera secure with ease.

Overall, I have used this Monopod for only Video use and can only comment on that sector, but I was very impressed. The structure devise kept shots a lot less shaky, even while filming in a moving car. I made a Monopod test video http://vimeo.com/31496213 , which documents some of the shots I got straight out the box. Even down to the box it was brought in was very handy with showing up with the professional kit on a set.

A pleasure to have in my camera kit collection.
